Recipe 05: Filtered Map

Cognitive Load & Keyboard Users: A map with 100 pins is overwhelming. Filters help users reduce the "noise" and find what they need.

Filter by Category:

Libraries Parks Schools

Showing all 3 locations.

Accessibility Features

ARIA Live Regions: When you check a box, a screen reader announces "Showing X locations". This confirms the action had an effect without the user needing to explore the map again.
Keyboard Focus: Focus remains on the checkbox after selection, allowing users to toggle multiple options quickly.
Fieldset/Legend: The checkboxes are grouped semantically, so screen readers announce "Filter by Category" when entering the group.
Skip Link: A visible-on-focus skip link lets keyboard users bypass the map.
